A Ranch Bonus
The ranch garden is two years old. The heavy work is done. Underpinnings are in place. Enhancements and maintenance will be the focus for subsequent seasons.
For the unaware, the ranch has a garden. It is located behind the swimming pool. A once forgotten and neglected parcel has been transformed and proven to be an amusing diversion.
The garden has and continues to evolve. No master plan exists. However, two themes have emerged; plant life and garden art. Briefly, plant species include vegetables, fruit and shade trees, beds of native and non-native flowering plants, an emerging herb patch and the thickest set of yellow lawn flowers. The second element, partner created garden art, sometimes blends with vegetation, other times it self-proclaims.

Recently, a whitetail doe scaled the fence. She managed only a few nibbles before an alert partner shooed her away.
On September 17th (2011) the garden hosts its first performing artist. Cowboy Poet, Jeff Hildebrandt narrates tales of the West. Jeff begins at 7:30 pm. Arrive early and explore the garden. Seating is limited so bring your seat. Bring your refreshments. Bring your tales. Campfire - conditions permitting.
Remember - Close the gate.
