Many partners will recall the historical ranch tour of the FXR and neighboring ranches last summer. This was a very fun and educational event that the ranch opened its gates to invite our neighbors on an historical tour. Those in attendance were not the only ones who took notice of this annual event. The Wyoming State Historical Society Awards Committee has selected the Kiwanis Club of Wheatland along with the Platte County Historical Society as the recipients of the 2010 Activities/Education Award for their project called “Platte County Historic Ranch Tour”! The nomination package submitted included the 2008 and 2009 tours of the McGuire Ranch, the Dover/McGill/Flying X Ranch, the Grant Ranch and the ranches comprising the Diamond Ranch group.

The 2010 tour was of the 14 Ranch which is actively preserving the historical buildings on the ranch and provided an educational and very enjoyable tour. Several FXR partners attended. Watch for upcoming tours the 3rd weekend in July!

Our congratulations go out to these wonderful groups preserving Wyoming History and a big thanks to the FXR and neighboring ranches for providing the opportunity for many to enjoy that rich history.
